Last day of May...

Today is the last day of May and hence marked the end of the "A post a day in May".
I truly enjoyed it as it allowed me to think through what happened within a day and find something worthy or happy to blog about.
I must say that I did quite well for this particular "challenge" and did not miss out many days.

So what is up for June?

Well, I had rekindle my love to watch the clouds float by.
So I thought for June, I am going to have "How my sky look today in June".
I will be taking photos of the sky and the beautiful clouds, the different shapes and the different shades for this June.

Hope you will check back to this blog to see the clouds that I see in the month of June.

If you are interested to join in the fun just join in and have fun but let me know by leaving a comment or an email to me so that I can go see what you see in the sky too.

Creating links in blog posts

I do not have much to blog about today yet... and not sure whether there will be later so I decided to do this.

Suzanne from Create Fun and Mess posted in her blog about not yet figuring out how to create links in posts, so I thought why not share what I do. Since, I am not trained to read or write HTML format, I do it the following manner.

1. In the "Compose" mode, I copied and pasted the web address.

2. Then I switch to the "Edit Html" tab. You see the portion where I underline? That is the part which I need to change.

3. Since the blog name is "Create Fun and Mess", I typed that in the part which I underlined earlier.

4. Lastly, I return to the "Compose" tab and I see the title of the link rather than the whole web addres.

There.... that is my non-Html way of doing it. It may not be the best and fastest way but it sure works for me.

Suzanne, I hope it will work for you too.

Something for Sperpig at his office...

Did this so that he can put it up on his board at his desk.
Hopefully those cheeky smiles will brighten up his busy day.

My fabric label...

Superpig encouraged me to get some fabric labels for the things I sew.
I sent my design over two weeks ago and got my sample yesterday.
(If you realised it is the same as the header picture I have for my crafting blog.)
Oh... I love them so I have decided to get it produced.
Now... I need to sew.
Have not been sewing, crocheting or doing anything crafty since last Friday.
My fingers are itching and I am starting to lose my sanity too...
I cannot live without my crafts.

I was thinking of creating something to sew on Etsy but I cannot figure it out.
And I cannot figure out how to charge the shipping too.
Any kind souls would like to share with me, please?

Tagged... and so are you.

So here goes...

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night?
Superpig

2. What were you doing at 0800?
Giving hell to a lady from a timeshare company who insisted that Superpig made an appointment with her and confirmed the appointment for Tuesday... duh... she sent a message to me on my handphone on Monday but I ignored it thinking it was a wrong message and she called two minutes after which I did not pick up. So how is it possible for Superpig to confirm an appointment with her... He was at work, I was at the mall and she called my handphone! Double duh!

oh... sorry, you meant 8 o'clock in the morning... I was sleeping.
Yup, the luxury of sleeping till late with my girls will be over soon so I better enjoy it now.

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
Guiding Ash with her Chinese homework and reading to Aver at the same time.

4. What happened to you in 2006?
I got pregnant with Aver (finally...) and enjoying less stressful work.

5. What was the last thing you said out loud?
I am going to report you to CASE if you do not get your manager on the phone NOW! (That was to the lady from the timeshare... you see, she hung up the phone twice on Superpig when he questioned her about the appointment.)

6. How many beverages did you have today?
One... Big gulps of plain water. (That remind me... I need my coffee...)

7. What color is your hairbrush?
I don't use a hair brush, I use a comb and it's brown.

8. What was the last thing you paid for?
Two cups of milkshake from MacDonald's on Monday afternoon.

9. Where were you last night?
At home with Superpig looking up details about the scamming timeshare company that called and also catching up on all the shows we recorded.

10. What color is your front door?
Dark Brown.

11. Where do you keep your change?
In a purse.

12. What’s the weather like today?
Sunshine with thunder and rain... confusing... I am too.

13. What’s the best ice-cream flavor?
Chocolate

14. What excites you?
When I finish one of the craft projects or when I embark on a new crafting skill.

15. Do you want to cut your hair?
Cut already ... now I miss my long hair... I will keep it long and then go for a little perm.
(You know... the sweet Japanese kind of perm...)

16. Are you over the age of 25?
Over... definitely over but in my heart I am still a 24 year old young lady.

17. Do you talk a lot?
Not really... I prefer to listen.
When I open my mouth, I always end up offending someone or say the wrong thing.

18. Do you watch the O.C.?
No... what is that? Ask me about CSI... that I know.

19. Do you know anyone named Steven?
Nope... don't have a big circle of friends.

20. Do you make up your own words?
Yes... when I am totally upset and angry.
I will cry and cry and then start babbling nonsense...

21. Are you a jealous person?
YES... One BIG JEALOUS person.

22. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘A’.
Yes... there is Alf (Angela), Alex, Ash, Aver...

23. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘K’.
Karen, wife of Superpig's cousin.

24. Who’s the first person on your received call list?
Superpig... It is always him.

25. What does the last text message you received say?
Ordered KFC. ETA 7.55 (that was from Superpig last evening)

26. Do you chew on your straw?
I am a straw chewer which drives Superpig nuts if we share a drink.

27. Do you have curly hair?
Nope... unruly hair... yes.

28. Where’s the next place you’re going to?
Don't know yet... to the shopping mall for a light supermarket shopping with the girls. Maybe...
The playground... I don't know.
Aver is dying to get out of the house.

29. Who’s the rudest person in your life?
So far the rudest is the lady from the timeshare company.

30. What was the last thing you ate?
Chocolate wafers

31. Will you get married in the future?
I am already married... If you are asking whether I will marry someone else in future... ha ha ha.. who would want to marry me... a spoilt brat! Only Superpig can tolerate my nonsense and me his...

32. What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the past 2 weeks?
Movie... what movie? Ask me about Korean drama... that I can tell you.

33. Is there anyone you like right now?
hmmm...none other than Superpig and my princesses, my mummy ( oh... lovely old lady but can irritate me to the core too... still I love her), my blogging friends, my friends and... I don't know... as long as the person does not have any ill intention, I will like him or her.
I am very simple minded...

36. Did you cry today?
Nope... I don't wish to.

37. Why did you answer and post this?
Because I was tagged by Honeymeow... and she meant business when she said that she is waiting.

38. Tag 7 people who would do this survey... I don't have 7 people...

I only have five... sad, right? No choice, like I said before when I open my mouth I will end up offending someone so my circle of friends is rather small. Plus, not many readers are leaving comments here... I know there are readers but why don't you show yourself so I can get to know more people? Pleeeeaaaseee...
Suzanne
Carol
YL
Tine
Geraldine

Okay, now all the five gals up there, it is your turn to do this and go tag others.

Enjoy.

Writer's block?

I am experiencing something like that... don't seems to have anything interesting to blog about today.
Well, it the mid year school holiday and I have four weeks with two princesses all to myself.
I am going to enjoy this time with them before I head back to work (out of home).
Today, we went to the nearby shopping centre because I had to have some cheques banked in.
Then, we went to the library and borrowed books (Chinese ones included) for Ash and a little shopping.
Not a bad day actually ...
Now, I need to renew our membership for the zoo and then we will be off to the zoo.

Missed posts... again

What's new?
I guess this will be what you may say... well, I'm sorry.

Things in the home front sort of took a turn in the wrong angle so I had many things on my mind and blogging had to take the backstage for awhile.

Let's start with where I stopped...

Thursday, 22 May 2008
There was Meet The Parents session at Ash's school and it was scheduled in the early part of the morning.
According to Ash's teacher, Ash is rather intelligent and also an independent learner BUT...
Yes... there is a BUT...
She lacks focus during lesson and does not complete her seat work on time.
As for her Chinese teacher, Ash's ability in the language is weak (which I am not surprised... so this holiday break, I have to come up with a learning programme for her Chinese.)
After the session, it is round the island travel to get work done... mine and Superpig's old job.
By the time I reached home, my legs were screaming for help and my body simply refused to move anymore.
That was not all, I ended the night with a session of Math tuition for my neighbour.

Friday, 23 May 2008
The school term had ended and Ash was home.
The phone rang in the morning and woke me up with a rather bad start for the day.
With that phone call the rest of the day went from bad to worse to utra lousy.
I will not go into details except that I vowed to stop crafting and baking, plus I attempted to throw everything related to that out.
It was a bad day... very bad day...
There was shouting in the phone, throwing, crying, hiding in the bathroom to cry more, scolding,
screaming, more crying, packing, apologies, hugs and a cup of Milo (my favourite drink) to curb my empty stomach before we retire for the night.

Saturday, 24 May 2008
It was Ash's extra-curriculum day... busy busy busy...

Sunday, 25 May 2008
Woke up early to go visit a violin class which Ash will be attending next week.
Yes... Ash have been asking for violin class since two years ago but we decided that she should concentrate on her piano.
We were hoping that it was a passing fad and will soon be forgotten but it did not go away.
She insisted that she still wants to learn violin eventhough it meant that she will have less time for play.
She visited the violin class and she still adamantly said that she wants to learn violin.
Oh... the instructor conducts the lesson in Mandarin... Yipppeee... that means she will have more exposure to the language.
Then, there was church and swimming and supermarket shopping ... blah blah blah...

One more thing... I will no longer have the luxury to work from home once the next school term starts in end June. I will have to be physically in the school and take up some subjects to teach. I am totally not prepared for it and that was why on Friday things just got so messed up. And, I am already missing my little baby now and missing the time that I can get to spend with her alone. I miss the time I may have to spend with Ash too.

Guess God have another plan for me and I jolly well learn to cope with that new plan.
I pray that I will be able to better manage my time then and spend it wisely with my two princesses.. oh, I am missing them so.

And... you know, I do not like to put up a post filled with text. So enjoy the photographs that I took over the last few days.

A full moon

Work...his old job which I will learn to doDifferent faces of the sky

And a sleeping baby... how I will miss having her sleep in my arms as I work at my laptop.

A prototype... Bucky Bunny

I had lots of buckwheat husks... don't ask me why just something that I thought will work out but did not.
So I decided to make a cute pillow case for my buckwheat pillow.
And this was the outcome... ARHHHHHHHHH ... it does not look anywhere near cute.

So I need to re-design again.
If it fails (which I really have no confidence of it turning out a success), I will forget about it altogether.

Edited to add:
I am glad for the encouragements given by those who have read the inital post of Bucky Bunny. My brain was in full gear since last night trying to think of a better looking Bucky Bunny and the brain is kid of fried when I posted earlier.

Then I read through the text at the sidebar and this jumped out:

Why should I feel like a failure when I am a conqueror in all things through Christ (Romans 8:37)?

Yeah... why should I give up? What if I fail tonight... well, I just try again. And knowing with kind encouragements from all, I will eventually succeed in making a CUTE Bucky Bunny.

Reflection - Strange thing it is...

I got a forwarded mail from an ex-colleague and found it interesting enough to want to share it.
I don't like to forward mails and create chain mails but I find that this is a rather good piece of forwarded mail.
However, instead of forwarding it, I decide to share it here.

Isn't it strange?
1. Isn't it strange how a 100-peso bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?
2. Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?
3. Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?
4. Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?
5. Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?
6. Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?
7. Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?
8. Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say, but we question the words in the Bible?
9. Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?
10. Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?
I do not know who the original author of this mail so I cannot give credit to the person but I know that what had been said is so true.

With God's many blessings, I am richer and stronger

Before Superpig started on his new job, he went on a shopping spree with me.
However, eventhough we were shopping we have no idea that his job was in the process of being confirmed.

A little of the background...
He was offered a job a few weeks ago and we were all very excited.
However, as he had to declare that he was the shareholder of the company that he was working then, the current one sort of held back comfirmation of his job.
Then it was about two weeks of waiting, praying and simply relying on God's grace.
I, on the other hand, told him to have himself remove from the company as soon as possible and he did.
The auditors did the necessary documents and the necessary persons signed on the dotted line and I persuaded him to send the relevant documents to the current employer without any delay.
That Thursday, 8 May 2008, he sent the documents to the current employer and then we went shopping.
Somehow, there was a kind of peace in me ( I am not sure about him though...) but he allowed me to enjoy my shopping.
I walked home with quite a few things and a very happy lady.
That evening, he got a call from the current company informing him to report to work the next week.
So he had been at his new job for a week now .. tiring due to long hours and numerous tasks to complete but very happy as God has given us.
I do not know what to put as the title of this post but I think the title I had up there is really relevant to our current situation.
Back to the shopping spree...

One of the loot is the Hello Kitty silicon baking mould I used to bake the Mother's Day Cakes.
Here is another one ... Pooh Bear silicom baking mould which I used to bake the Pooh Bear Sponge Cake in the previous post.By the way the recipe for the sponge cake is posted HERE.

Was out and tired...

I missed yet another post as I was really tired.
I had to go report to work (a weekly affair) and pick Ash up from school after her ballet... this is usual.
What tired me out was that I had to run an extra errand for Superpig.
After he had started on his new job, I have to help out with his old one...collecting mails, calling for courier, getting invoices and all. So I went to his old office on the public transport... I could have the car...but been a lost cow (moooo....mooo.....) most of the time, I thought that it will be safer to not drive.
At least if I was lost, I could always hail a cab.

So after all the travelling and walking and all, I came home with blisters on my feet (ouchhhhhhhh!) and aching legs.
Well, eventhough I was tired, I cannot resist making these for Superpig and Ash.

Shopping Baby

I did mention about Aver liking her sister's ballet bag but I did not know that she REALLY like it.
I left her alone to play by herself while I tried to get some stuff done and when I turned around, I saw an interesting sight.
It looked like the baby is all ready to go out shopping.

Crafting busy...

Well, I missed a post for yesterday as I was busy.
Busy trying to adapt to the change.
Busy trying to visualise how to sew a ballet bag for Ash.
And I did...

Here is Aver modeling it for me... and seems like she also likes it.

I need to get another bag sewn for Ash for her Akkido class and then I will be setting to work on the blog giveaway gifts...

I still have quite a number of you participants who have not contacted me yet.

Please send me an email wengoh(at)gmail(dot)com with your mailing addy.

Stay tuned :)

Superpig's at his new job - first day (12 May 2008)

Oh yes... Superpig reported to work today at his new job.
Suddenly, I miss him so much.
Suddenly, I feel so lonely at home although I have Aver beside me and later Ash will be home.
In his last job, he may be out of the house but due to the flexibility of the timing. he is always a phone call away, an MSN message away.
But now with his new job, I cannot call him as frequently, I don't even dare to call him once.
I don't even dare to send a message through the phone to tell him to work hard.
And now even with MSN messenger opened, I miss seeing his profile there.
I seriously miss him...

Happy Mother's Day

Yup... now I can finally say this.
I don't know what to get for my mother-in-law, who lacks nothing, and my mum, who don't want anything. So the only thing I know that they cannot buy with money is what comes out from my oven.

So I decided to bake them and also my sister-in-law their own Mother's Day Cake.
If you have read the previous post, you will know that I had started baking since the night before.

The cake failed to be baked ... in total, I failed five times.
I don't think it was the recipe but largely due to me.
This morning with the fifth try, I was at the verge of giving up.
And then I found another recipe and tried it again.
It finally worked.
So I continued to bake another 2 more.

Here is the mould that I bought few days ago.

This is my first try... see how badly burnt it was.

Then this is me, sitting and staring at the oven and praying that the cake will work this time (Superpig thought it was cute to take this picture.)

And here is Aver hoping to get my attention (please ignore that camera strap ... Superpig has problem taking pictures.)

Now, after the sixth try.

Here is the third successful one...finally!
The filling in between the layers is durian puree... pure durian!

Missed a post

I missed a post for yesterday as I was busy in the kitchen trying to bake the Mother's Day cake.
It FAILED!
Not once,
Not Twice,
But FOUR TIMES!!!!

The fifth one is now in the oven and I am at the verge of pulling out my hair!

And talking about my hair...
I went to have it rebonded straight plus a little trim, tolerated two days of no water on my hair and the result after I finally washed it...

ARRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHH.... it is as good as not doing anything to my hair!

That is my first time at the salon and the last time too!

250th Post!

There... I made it to my 250th blog post here.
It is a big thing to me as that is quite a lot of posts and plus I have good good news to share.

Superpig's job is confirmed. He is reporting next Monday.
Really, this whole month we live day to day base on simple faith on our Almighty Father.
He has blessed us and really I think there are more we can do for Him.
He had provided us with abundant blessing and we, on the other hand, fall short of His expectations.
And remember my little giveway...go leave a comment in THIS POST to play along.

Fresh morning, fresh flowers

Today, we resumed our morning walk and we found more tiny blooms along the way.

And this last one, is our orchid blooming. It has always been a long long wait for their beautiful blooms.
